BRANDON SHAVER - HEAD COACH

Now entering his 9th year as a head coach, Brandon Shaver continues to elevate the Lake Travis Men's Basketball program. In just three seasons, he has solidified the Cavaliers as a premier 6A contender, most recently leading the team to a second-place district finish and a 2026 playoff berth.

Shaver’s extensive resume includes head coaching stops at Sulphur Springs, Pine Tree, and Central, where he established a reputation for disciplined, high-IQ basketball. Off the court, Coach Shaver remains dedicated to student development through his CAVS 401 course. He resides in the community with his wife, Megan, and their three sons: Jaxon, Kade, and Bryce.

JERRICK MASSENBURGE - JV COACH & VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH

Coach Jerrick Massenburge enters his fourth season with the Lake Travis High School basketball program, where he serves as the Junior Varsity Head Coach and a Varsity Assistant. Massenburge brings a wealth of Texas high school coaching experience to the Cavaliers, having previously held positions at Sulphur Springs High School and Pine Tree High School in Longview.

A decorated former student-athlete, Massenburge competed for Mid-America Christian University (MACU) from 2014 to 2017. During his tenure at MACU, he was a key contributor to the team’s 2016 NAIA National Championship victory. Outside of his coaching duties, he is an avid golfer and outdoorsman.

TIMOTHY FLANDERS - FRESHMAN COACH & VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH

Coach Timothy Flanders enters his fourth season on the Lake Travis High School coaching staff, bringing a wealth of professional and collegiate experience to both the football and basketball programs. A former professional standout, Flanders spent eight years in the NFL and CFL (2014–2022), with tenures at organizations including the New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. 

Prior to his professional career, Flanders established a legendary legacy at Sam Houston State University, where he remains the all-time career leader in rushing and scoring. A two-time finalist for the Walter Payton Award, he holds over 30 school records and nine Southland Conference marks. Off the field, Coach Flanders holds a Bachelor of Business in MIS and an Associate Degree in Cyber Security. He resides in the community with his wife, Cameron—recently named Head Athletic Trainer at LTHS—and their four children: Jaden, Gianna, Messiah, and Harper.

RUDY ORTIZ - 

FRESHMAN COACH & VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH

Coach Rudy Ortiz is entering his third season with the Lake Travis High School Men’s Basketball program, bringing over a decade of dedicated teaching and coaching expertise to the Cavaliers. A native of Uvalde, Texas, Coach Ortiz’s deep-rooted passion for the game led him to a collegiate playing career at McMurry University and Southwest Texas Junior College.

His athletic background serves as the foundation for his coaching philosophy, which emphasizes the core values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. Off the court, Coach Ortiz is a devoted family man. He and his wife, Christina, reside in the community with their three daughters: Braelynn (7), Brinlee (2), and their youngest, Blakely.
